Role title: Saffron Forge Volunteer

Reporting to: Office Manager and Saffron Forge Representative

Saffron is a unique, life-saving and life-changing service in Sheffield. We offer free, long-term specialised trauma therapy to women aged 16 and over in a safe and dedicated space. Our clients are Sheffield’s most vulnerable women, some of whom may have experienced multiple, complex traumas.

Role Description:

The Saffron Forge Volunteers’ main role is to support the Saffron Forge Representative in bringing the viewpoint of our former clients to the forefront in order to help us further embed the client voice into our service at a strategic and developmental level.

Their experience would come from:

  • their own lived experience of trauma

  • their own therapy journey with Saffron

  • their engagement with other mental health services in Sheffield

It is a requirement for a Saffron Forge Volunteer to be a former client of Saffron Sheffield. Former clients offer a unique perspective in regard to multiple complex traumas and any resulting mental health issues, and will aid the understanding of the client’s experience with Saffron Sheffield.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the co-production of our Saffron Forge Strategy with the Saffron Forge Representative, Office Manager and the group, with additional input from CEO,  Head of Clinical Service and the Events Co-ordinator 

  • Support the co-development of the programme for ex-client focus groups and other activities as required throughout the calendar year to support the strategy.

  • Support the co-development and the co-ordination of social meet-ups such as group walks, craft circles, coffee catch-ups or other low-key connection focused events

  • Attend induction training and any other specific training required.

  • Be a part of the Saffron Staff team and follow all relevant policies and procedures.

  • Take part in events and other awareness-raising activities.

  • Contribute towards the production of Saffron’s Annual Report.

  • Administrative tasks

Time Commitment & Location:

  • There will be a trial period of three months for this role.

  • You will be in control of how many volunteer hours you can offer per month and the activities you are interested in volunteering for. Please let your supervisor know your capacity at your monthly planning meeting when your working days and hours are agreed upon, with the knowledge that this may include some evenings and weekends.

  • This is a hybrid role, and some work can be done at home.
